Hi Guys,
I suspect I'm not the first to discover just how easy it is to disable the standard alarm in these things. Without wanting to go into detail and let the world know how to do it, has anyone else discovered this problem and found a solution. I'm considering moving the "alarm" back further into the engine bay but don't really know how to aproach it at this stage.
On a similar note, what does a semi decent alarm cost, and how hard are they to install???
what do you mean move the alarm further back into the engine bay? thealrm horn is in the left rearmost corner of the engine bay as it is?
all the workings of the alarm are built into the BCM in the cabin of the alarm?

I installed an aftermarket alarm system a week after I bought my car - never trusted the stock security system... There are plenty of places that install them for you. If you decide to upgrade, get a Category 4 Alarm which builds upon the central locking and existing car security setup. Make certain that it is AS 3749.1 compliant. The mob that I used came to my house and installed it in less than an hour - best alarm system I have ever used. It cost me a total of $349, which includes a 2 year parts and labour warranty. Because it is AS 3749.1 compliant, I got a $45 rebate on my annual car insurance. It has everything you could and couldn't imagine existed in an alarm system, except electrified door handles and missiles behind the headlights - lol.
INACTIVE ACCOUNT. No longer monitored.
What Brand and Model did you get please.
