Default Phone Input as an Auxilliary

    Hey all,

I've successfully used the phone kit wiring on the passenger side of the console for DC12V, but can't seem to tap into the sound input for the stereo. Is this possible? Looking at the pins, pin 6 is "Audio Return Signal" so I tried this, leaving 'radio mute' and 'cellular microphone input' alone because I am tapping in a sound source that I want to come through the radio, not a mobile phone.

I've searched these forums, I just need someone to explain how the radio handles signals through the phone kit inputs.

    Cheers,
    Matt

    Question

yeah I read that thread...but it doesn't explain how to hook up to the provided phone input.

I am only hooking up Comm Radios to the sound system, so crappy signal is fine. And I understand it is mono.

All I need is for someone to explain how to wire sound into it (which pins?)

    Pin 1: Battery + Voltage
    Pin 2: Ground
    Pin 3: Accessory Voltage
    Pin 4: Radio Mute Signal
    Pin 5: Cellular Mic Signal
    Pin 6: Audio Return Signal

Do I take the sound cable and place positive on the audio return pin? Do I also have to ground the audio input cable? Can I ground it with the same ground wire as the new radio I installed into Pin 3 and Pin 2?

Also can I take advantage of the radio mute? How? By sending any signal through Pin 4? So in conclusion should I wire the new radio signal into both Pin6 and Pin4?

The reason I ask and don't try all this is because I don't want any electrical damage/fires starting in my nice VYII. This is the first time I've played with wires....

    Cheers

I installed a nokia handsfree kit a while ago so I am dong this by memory but I remember that the speaker wires were connected to the last two pins. I think they are blue and blue with black stripe. I am not sure how the radio mute signal works, whether it is positive or negatively activated.

    Hope this helps

    cheers bro

Need someone who understands how the radio mute wire works, and how the Blaupunkt system interacts with the phone kit, so I can better understand how to wire my radios in!

Anyone who has this knowledge please take the time to post here!

When a neg is supplied to the radio mute wire, thats when voice in appears and accepts audio in, you could use a switch to supply the neg signal to swap over from stereo to comms, how would you hear the comms when the radio is on, you may need original comms speaker and input to stereo,
I cut the wires going into my phone speaker and joined them straight to audio in and works fine.
Sounds like a good idea let us know how it goes,
