Default Instrument clusters

I am looking for a new cluster preferably the 3 window one for my VY I. Is there anyone out there who has done this to a VY Exec and has pics. Is it true that i have to buy one specifically for the series 1 because the gauges are all back to front if you say put a series 2 cluster in a series 1. Also will all functions for the new windows work as well as the little light for the fog light and what is entailed in the reprogramming of the new cluster. Im looking at getting this done before Phreddy graces the shores of Bris Vegas to do my LED and stereo conversions.

Also is it true that all clusters cannot be programmed after 100km or is it just the odometer cannot be changed to reflect the vehicles true mileage?

Default Yes and no.

Firstly, the issue with gauges working backwards only affects the fuel gauge and the "Distance to Empty". This can be fixed by changing the fuel sender unit, but at significant expense.

So, my recommendation is to make sure that you get a Series 1 cluster.

The cluster will always be able to be set to your vehicle by Tech2, but Tech2 can only reset the odometer if it reads less than 100 Km. Specialist instrument workshops can reset the odometer at higher readings, but at additional cost.

One catch is that I see people offering VY/VZ clusters for sale. There is no generic one fits all. A VY fits a VY, a VYII fits a VYII and a VZ fits a VZ. They are not interchangable without a lot of work and expense. Don't get caught. Get a part number and check it first before coughing up any dough.
