Default Door actuator......Need Help URGENTLY!!!!!

My drivers side door wont open either by remote or key the button goes up half way and down as if its locked. l rang up a Holden Dealer and was told it would cost $154.00 labour ,$110 for the Door Actuator, and $145.00 for a New Door Trim as they might have to break it to get the door open.Is this true or can l do it myself ? Unfortunately my warranty ran out 3 months ago If l can do it myself can someone tell me how ? Thanks

hrrmm i think they are yanking your chain as far as the door trim breaking off when i had my vt i had to take the trim off because i was having trouble with my central locking and i think the vt/vy/vz trim is the easiest to get off the trim is mainly screwed on and then held tightly in place by a bracket type thing in the middle of the trim you need to pull it upwards as for the mechanism there not not be anything wrong with it at all myne was doing the same it was just sticking fiddled around with the rods put in a bit of dry lube and central locking was as good as new but if worst comes to worst and you need a new one it should just mount via 3 bolts on the side

door trims are exacly same in vt/vx/vy/vz

as for opening the door pull the lock up manually, as i said they can stick sometimes you might not even need to pull the trim off if you pull the lock up manually and push it down again a couple times

yep bang the snib up and down violently, most of the time this frees up the lock to open up the door, i have a brand new rhf lock assembly, (not just the actuator) here for a VY, yours for $100 including postage if you want it
cheers Rob

it is impossible to take a vy door trim off when the door wont open without damaging it,all you have to do is open the other side door up and youll see where the screws are and youll know there is no hope.

I had exactly the same problem, the only way I could open my door was to use the key with my right hand and at the same time using my left hand to push down and lift the lock lever on the inside. You need the window open for this.

Just muck around with it a few times checking if the door opens between every try. Just do the same actions simultaneously and you should notice on the correct go that the lock lever on the inside will come up a little higher... then you got it!!!

Pain in the ass but...

Got the actuator replaced under warranty.
