Default Factory alarm

How do you turn off the factory alarm???
My friends Car came with the std. keys as well as a key that looks like the vn up alarm key.

where do they put the key switch??????

The car will not respond to remotes sometimes and using the key to open car just sends the horn off....

The key will be for your glove box.

Standard Holden alarms don't have a key, like some aftermarket alarms.

If you key remote doesn't work, unlock the doors with the key and turn the ignition on to deactivate the alarm.

On the factory alarm can you activate the alarm from the key remote??

I used to have an aftermarket alarm on my VL, and by holding the button on the remote down for more than 5 seconds would set the alarm off, so you could scare potentional theifs away from the car from a distance.

Just lock the car and leave it for a few minutes (i think it takes a coulple of minutes to activate??), press the boot release but dont open the boot, leave it for a minute then lift the boot lid. Alarm should go off. This is what i was told for my VY 'S' and it did work.
Cheers
Dan

I was under the impression that there was only an immobiliser in late model commodores... I had to have mine upgraded aftermarket to incorporate a siren (still runs off Holden keys).

The factory alarm is just a single immobiliser, or open a door and and alarm will sound. To get a proper alarm you need to get it upgraded.
