Serious problems
I purchased a VY Ute in 2003 and the car has been returned over twenty times. The most serious being replacement of three alternators, and serious water leaks resulting in the car being shipped to Adelaide for investigation.
Has anyone else experienced problems with water leakages? It is sooo frustrating dealing with Holden because there constant reply is bring the car back. How many times should a person have to return a lemon like this! The average person does not have a hope in getting satisfaction.

Problems dealing with Holden, really?
Not defending them, as I have had a fair share of bad run ins with them in my first, and last Holden. But I think they are good to ship the car back to Adelaide for investigation.
Thats amazing service.
If it helps my car went into three different dealers for servicing and recalls.
Imagine my surprise when I get a registered letter, which I had to pick up 30km's from home.
It was from Holden telling me that my side air bag recall hadn't been done!
Their (call centre persons) excuse was I shouldn't have bought a second hand Holden. Gold.
Needless to say they aren't winning the lease tender for our BA renewal.

That's a very general and broad statement to be making on a public forum.

Whats With The Capitals? I agree with vy_storm, and considering apprentices basically dont even touch the cars until atleast their second year, i doubt this is the problem

not really .. i have had experiences where the apprentice's did something or forgot to put a bolt or screw back in..
eg... stereo screws on my bros calais... they totally forgot to put them back!!
or computer system under the pass side dash... i mean these are simple common thing , and when we asked why they told us that only the got 3 qualified mechanices and the rest are just apprentice..
and the reason for that is because they are cheap and they get paid less
I am not having a go at apprentices but when you service your car Holden should consider that , the vehicle's belong to someone who does really care about their investment, and should respect the customers trust.
I now take my car to holden approved mechanics for service and repaid..cause simple i am sick of taking the car back every 2 or more time cause because someone didn't do their job.
Sick of having an argument with holden service center staff cause they fully don't wanna accept that they have make a mistake..

One question, how do you "know" that apprentices did the work? And they always blame apprentices, its just the way things go... the qualified mechanics are supposed to supervise/check everything the apprentices do (to an extent), so unless they aren't doing their job, the apprentices may be getting away with dodgey work, but i would be blaming the qualified guys for letting the stuff-up happen.

Just because you have had a bad experience that doesn't mean that it is *always* the case. The best advice I can give is that if you aren't happy with your dealers service then vote with your feet and go someplace else.

I will just add, and I am sure the original poster in this thread has been through it....
If you do not escalate the complaint or issues above the service department how do you expect the dealer to resolve any ongoing problems?
Unfortunately the only way to get a result is to keep going to the top. It may take time and effort, but quite sometimes it is the only way to get things sorted.

I am assuming you have the car from new??? This is most definately not typical. My VYII (sedan) has never leaked a drop of water (where is it getting in/puddling etc on your car?). 1 dead alternator or maybe even 2 could be just luck of the draw. 3 points to a problem else where that kills the alternator. Pretty hard to diagnose from this distance but I hope you get a loaner while yours is getting fixed.

you need to talk to the service manager at whatever dealership you go to and arrange a meeting with the holden warranty rep that comes in once a month.
at the dealership i work at customers come in and show the rep any problems or complaints they ahve about their car. The warranty reps are top people and actually listen to your complaints.
its easy to book a meeting with them, just talk to the service manager and get him or her to arrange a time and date.
