SRS Airbag Fault
Hi there all,
Well today I made the error of removing the LHF seat to fit a small amp to run my sub and I forgot to disconnect the battery before taking the seat out and disconnecting the two air bag plugs.
Now when I start her up she come up with the fault saying SRS Airbag Fault,
Any ideas how I can get rid of this? with out going to a Holden dealership?
She is soon due for a service, another 8000km's but would love to try and get it off my self.
With thanks
Pat

I did the exact same thing in the exact same circumstances a while ago. I was told it can only be cleared by Holden with the Tech2.
"SRS Airbag Fault" message
I just got them to do it at my next service. They tried to charge me $70 for the priveledge but I had a whinge and they did it for nothing. It's literally a 1 minute job...

the problem is that you turned the ignition on with the seat unplugged, the airbag module saw a problem with the seat & logged a code.
theres no need to disconnect the battery, simply dont turn the ignition on with anything unplugged.
Tech2 is the only way to clear this code

Good result!
Did they charge you anything, just out of interest?

about $30 and it took ten mins but I was happy with that as I was tripping up Nth QLD and just stopped in to a Holden dealer out of the blue and they were bloody busy but they slotted me in right away in the repair bay and sorted it, so I was happy with that service.
Better than what my folks are getting from there Ford dealership up here, really disappointing with the work been done on there Falcon ute or should I say the work not getting done and it was all paid for already.....

Heh - another one, eh Dave??
Seriously though, as "the Doc" said, it's gotta be Tech2'd. The rule is, DON'T turn the ignition on with any component of the SRS disconnected. If you can get away without disconnecting the component, better still.
I believe however you would be able to turn the key to "Acc" without causing a SRS fault condition - can you confirm this Bob? If this is the case, then you can ensure correct operation of the amp before the seat is returned (as a typical scenario where this might happen), but avoid the inconvenience and cost of getting it to a dealer.
Cheerz!

Ha! Yeah, I guess it's an easy mistake to make.
I spose it's probably worth mentioning too the small but obvious trick which Phreddy once reminded me of. To test your amp etc with the front seat out, you don't even need the keys in the ignition. Just push the ON button on the head unit and it will stay on (unless you switch it off) for about an hour. This will avoid logging any SRS error codes on your computer...
