I have a VY sII wagon and I've never had a car with a "computer system" in it. And I was wondering if it is ok to just start the car straight away or should I turn it to accessories and wait for the computer to display the "system check ok" message and then start it.
The computer's "system check" will still cycle through, whether you start the car immediately or wait until it displays "system check ok"
It's up to you which starting prodcedure you choose.![]()
I like my roo well done

I never wait for mine and I haven't had any problems...
just start it up
its not so critical on VY, its just the instrument cluster booting up & starting up comms with all the other modules.
Some VZ have immobiliser issues if started too quickly.

I have never worried about the system check although I have always given it between 0.5 to 1 second to ensure the fuel line is pressurised. I am not sure if the fuel pressure leaks down without use although a friend's VY was developing a small problem (taking 2 attempts/cranks) until he did what I do.
i wonderd abt this too and just turn her over str8 up,no probs,as someone said,it still does its cheks waitng or nottho i have a vz exec and thats the first ive herd about the immobiliser thing so will kp an eye out ")
In my SS i just wait for the fuel to pressurise for the second or two then start..
Well, it says nothing of waiting in the startup procedure in the manual.
dont think there is a big issue with starting the car before the sys check is done, i start it and leave it running for about 6 mins before i drive (an old habbit i used to use on my old car after i put something through the rocker cover...... long story)
