Default VX Acclaim/Berlina or VY Exec

Hey there, i just sold my series 2 VS commodore and am after buying a new car.
Im tossing up between a VX Acclaim/Berlina or a VY Exec. With my money i could get a VX in good condition with full elecs but would probably be an 01 or 02 model or i can go for a VY Exec with probably the same amount/maybe less k's than the VX,but would be a 02 or 03 model.
I've had a look at both Vx's and Vy's and although i always liked the VY better it didnt really stand out to me even though its newer.
In your opinion what would be the better car and better resale, the VX higher model or the VY exec?

Exec's never hold thier value well, a place near me had VZ exec's starting at $16990, not real flash when only a few years ago they retailed at $33650.

Best bet is to always go above an exec if you can, unless you dont care about re-sale. Also, the VX is based off of a VT, one of holdens best commodores.

How much you willing to spend?

I had the choice VT Calais or VY exec. It was a difficult one, but I went the VT.

Some people prefer newer cars even if they're a lower spec, others prefer a better spec in an older car. Depends what you want really. Depends on the cars in particular. Amount of km's, condition, etc. Personally I'd go a VX Calais, I'm sure you'll find one in your price range, don't go below a berlina if your going VX or below.

As for resale, depends again on the particular car, but I think the VY would probably have a very slighlty better resale (Just a guess though)

    Good luck!

    But wait... There's more!!

    But that's not all!!!

personnally i would choose the newer model car mainly because it would have had less wear and tear. you might get the VX that looks good and find out a week or 2 later that the gearbox is abit .... strange or that you have some piston slap because the guy who had it before you liked to fang it around.

i bought the VY 04 series 2 exec and i havent ever had pause to regret it, its a fantastic car comes with most of the kit, all electric windows, deadlocking doors, cd player, AC is good engine had 40,000 when i got it ... has 80 now tho.. and there have been no major issues. and anything that needed doing was still under warrenty so it was a free fix.

that and the stock interior i find very accommodating and the gf likes it too .... (stock apolstery)

and its quiet which makes it perfect for the amount of driving i do every year
