Well, first thing is to REALLY make sure that you have indeed been duped. Check the ad, and save a copy via prt-scrn button on your Keyboard. Next duplicate any other ads you can find for it. Now, onto the car itself.

Pop the hood and have a squiz at the little metal badge on top of the radiator shroud. This should have the build date on it in this format 11/03
(Example of mine) If yours is indeed a series two, yours should read anything from 08/03 through to 07/04. If the build date is in this spectrum, it's a series two. If it's before, than it sounds like a series 1 to me.

Exterior is not to differant, but there are a couple of changes to look for. A series 2 should have big 17" rims with a wide blade 5 blade design, very distinctive. If in doubt of the wheel size, just check the trye's or tyre placard located on the drivers side door. Also the grille is differant. The series 1 has 2 horizontal struts, wheras the series 2 has the single strut.

Okay, interior is a tad tricky, as it is based upon the options that someone took, so very tricky to know what is standard and what is'nt. I would suggest referring to the website I gave you earlier for this.

Price wise, on average a $5000 differance between the two, so I would be arguing for sure!

No problem, and best of luck. Seems to me they knew that your car was indeed advertised as somthing it wasnt, by the speed they took down the ad. I purchased my car around the 19th of December from winter and taylor (in geelong ). I say this because it took them untill around the 10th of January to take down the ad.

Please keep us informed as to how it all goes, and best of luck!

Dealer not happy just to re-emburse you for the difference in price between the two models? Suppose he figures he could put it back on the lot for the original price and resell it to somebody less astute! definately worth taking it further as it is a misrepresentation (spelling??) and it would then be up to the dealer to prove they genuinely didn't know it was a series 1.
Good Luck with it & series 1 or series 2..... enjoy your motoring.
