Personally, I like the VZ a fair bit more than the VY.
The VY has the old ecotec 3.8 V6 which was first used in the VS in 1995. Power : 152kw
The VZ had the new 3.6 Alloytec V6 which is built entirely in Australia and was a totally new design.
Power : 175kw
The VZ also was offered with a 5spd auto in some variants.
Other than the engines, the main differences were in styling.
Look at rear bumper, rear lights and front Bumper and lights.

I go the other way towards vy but that stands to reason cause i've got one!
I like the ecotec because it's proven, but the alloytec seems pretty good so far.

Not alot of difference, the front differs a little from the vy, depends on what model you buy.
The vz calais look alot better than the vy calais in my opinion.

check out carsales.com. as regards looks. there will be plenty of photos to compare VY - VZ on there.
everything looks sharper and tidier than a VY.

Much of a muchness if you ask me, main differance for you will be price. The VY, being older, most likely cheaper.

To be honest stock for stock there isnt alot in it in terms of speed. The power delivery is different. Unless you go the sv6 or calais which has the 190kw v6 and 5 speed auto/ 6 sp manual. Then they are the equivilant to the vy supercharged v6.

VY is the last variant with the V6 Ecotec, and VYSS's come in V8, its an all alloy V8, just like all gen3's are and I'm not sure if Calais comes in manual.
