Default Fuel Smell

Hi everyone.
Back in January I was towing a heavy load on the trailer. I noticed that there was a strong fuel smell inside the cabin of the car, anyway at the time I didn't think much of it. It went away after I had taken the load off.
Anyway yesterday I was towing another heavy load and noticed the strong fuel smell in the cabin again. Today it is not there.
It seems to be only when I am towing a load that I smell this fuel smell.

Anyone else had this problem or know any reason for it?

mmmmm....hard to figure what would be causing it, have you make sure there is no fuel leaking somewhere?? Might wanna check your trans as I think it would be under stress during towing.

When towing you are in effect extending the length of the vehicle and the drag caused by the back of the car without a trailer would suck any fuel smell from your charcoal canister away from the car. With the trailer, there is no drag at the boot area so any fuel vapours hanging around would get sucked into the car through any opening.
