Stereo and instrument back lights

Had my car at holden today for service and to check out a couple of things and when i got it back i noticed that the stereo and instrument back lights were on full illumination while the lights switch was in the off position.
I usualy have the lights in the park position and the dimmer on so not sure if the stereo and instrument back lights are on all the time or not, I thought if the light were off they were off. Can any one confirm at all. VY S2 'S'.
