Big surprise there The Crewman is much heavier, as well as being an auto (and therefore having greater power loss) and higher gearing too.

On the highway the 6-speed will be better because of the gearing advantage, but it's not a massive difference. I don't think fuel economy is too bad in the autos, I can still get 10.2L/100km on the highway - I've seen a lot worse figures.

my mates vy ss is a manual and he drives pretty conservtly and the best hes had with frway and city driving is 17.5! he once picked me up and was on empty so went to servo he put 30 buks in and from liverpl to bankstown and back he had to put another twenty in,this was around the same time i was getting ready myself to buy a new car and it really put me off hence the v6 obviously i now know they vary massively and ive regrettd it ever since.shouldve listend to the dealer wen he said ther only 2-3ltrs diff.

My vz ss manual gets a pretty good 9-9.5l/100kms on the freeway. Around town is does anywere between 13 to 17l/100kms depending on how much right foot you use!
