In a vy ss Does a auto really drink that much more fuel then the manual?

i drive a vz ss crewman a4 sometimes
compared to my vy ss m6 ute- its is slow, unresponsive and uses alot more fuel

Big surprise there :bop: The Crewman is much heavier, as well as being an auto (and therefore having greater power loss) and higher gearing too.

On the highway the 6-speed will be better because of the gearing advantage, but it's not a massive difference. I don't think fuel economy is too bad in the autos, I can still get 10.2L/100km on the highway - I've seen a lot worse figures.

my mates vy ss is a manual and he drives pretty conservtly and the best hes had with frway and city driving is 17.5! he once picked me up and was on empty so went to servo he put 30 buks in and from liverpl to bankstown and back he had to put another twenty in,this was around the same time i was getting ready myself to buy a new car and it really put me off hence the v6 :( obviously i now know they vary massively and ive regrettd it ever since.shouldve listend to the dealer wen he said ther only 2-3ltrs diff.

yeah my SS ute is auto and i can usually get about 13-14l/100kms and thats driving pretty conservatley. even in traffic. but thats not real fun so i tend to get about 17-18 with a grin on me face

lets face facts..you dont buy these great cars if your worried about fuel cons.
