gday guys.

i have seen aftermarket head units (apline/clarion) that have a lead out of them for you to plug your ipod or similar music player directly into the unit. so you get great quality as opposed to an i trip of fm transmitter

is there anyway at all to do similar with the stock head unit.

If your Ipod can play Ogg Vorbis files then it will give you a better sound quality.

Phreddy does auxillary input kits for the standard VY head unit. He's done it in mine. I'm SURE this will accept an Ipod.

Send him a PM or check out the ASR section of this forum for more info...

go buy a alipine head unit with ipod controller and install it yourself very simple and sound quality will be alot better than using the standard deck.

I took my standard head unit out replaced with alpine head unit with ipod and it sounds great and i can still put my original head deck back in if i want too.

i dunno its a really thin,small 1gig ipod

they are a different sound file format, they have the extension *.ogg you can get converter's which will convert mp3's to ogg's.

As far as I understand, Phreddy's mod puts your iPod sound in just before the amplifier process, so it should be just as high quality as a CD played on the head unit. The sampling rate of your MP3's will be the limiting factor. You can just have a 3.5mm (headphone style) stereo jack in your console or dash to plug into.
