electric aerial

hi all
the electric aerial on my vy makes a noise when it is at the end of its travel
Is this normal???

Is it making 2 or 3 knocks after it's fully extended?
My mothers had the same problem and we just replaced the aerial part, it runs on a plastic line with teeth and what happens is the teeth start to slip a bit.
