I think this is my first post here so hi all,
Have you guys heard about any cases of having to replace the valve seats or reconing them on the vy commodore 6? is this a common issue or have i got a dud or is the information i got sound like something a gimp would say?
The vy series 1 acclaim that i have, has a slight ticking noisy when accelerating took it to holden and they suspect worn valve seats, the only issue i have with this is that the car only has only done 75000k's and i was under the impression that they shouldnt have worn that quickly. I havent had a chance to check them yet but i have the valve seat angles and valve width measurements, but i have no idea where to get a valve seat cutting tool from. Do you think it would be worth taking it to someone else for a second opinion or have one of you guys done it and whered ya get your cutting tool from?? Also i dont thrash the car its driven like a grannies car
any info would be greatly appreciated
thanks
A compression test will tell you if the valve seats are gone.
