Not sure but I have what I think is a noisy rear wheel bearing. The noise is related to road speed sounds like a bearing but I am not sure. Unlike a diff noise which come and goes with the load this noise just increases with speed and seems to go away at higher speed but very evidnet at low to around 80 - 90 k's.
It is and interupted rumble (if that make sense)
Slowing down the noise appears louder but that may be becuase there is less road noise and wind noise
So my question is if my discription is acurate enough what could it be?
Could be a bearing although usually if a bearing is poked it gets noisier with an increase in speed, the noise probably wouldn't drop off either at the higher speeds. It might change pitch from a low rumble to a high whine or something similar.Sounds silly, but have you checked your brake pads?
Does the noise change with a side to side movement of the car while driving? That is a dead give away for a wheel bearing.
I've got a rear end rumble at the moment, but that's cos I ate beans last night!
...sorry guys, couldn't help myself...
I might have the same thing. Mine is like tyre noise coming from the rear.
It only happends when going at around 60. It disappears if I put my foot on the accelerator. If I take my foot off, it comes back again.
I asked about it in the last service but they just found it to be tyre noise and it will probably go away with the next set of tyres or a wheel alighnment.
