ok ive had this car for 2 years and im going to get some mods done, ive already had the suspension all fitted out with pedders bushes and koni shocks, now its time for the gearbox and motor.
the things i had in mind are:
1. roller rockers (different ratio to the stockos) was considering the yella tera apparently $600 trade price
2. ecu chipped or remapped (can they programed through the data port?)
3. stage 1 or 2 shift kit or manual conversion
4. aftermarket intake manifold (if anyone makes one)
its a 2002 s1 berlina v6, ive already done the basic mods ie: panel filter, decent spark plugs / oil, cai.
im not chasing big gains maybe around 40hp extra, im not looking at s/c or turbos at the moment, same with exhaust ive seen very little gains with extractors and exhaust so im keeping it stock till someone proves me wrong, i was considering having the 2 exhaust pipes seperate to each other and see if it sounds any better than the dull drone you usually get from the v6 but the exhaust shops told me id be wasting my money.
anyhow im chasing peoples thoughts on ideas, past experiences, and maybe save myself alot of running around.
time for YOU!to put your 2 cents in

Yeah, you would be wasting your money with twins, mines running two seperate's(twins to single 2.5 after ressie), and dosent sound all that different to me. I think the rockers would be a good idea, as too the shift kit for genreal seat-of-pants stuff (the shift kit I mean). Manifold wise, could check out american suppliers, assuming that the ecotec is the same over there.
if you are looking for a new inlet manifold holmart have a twin inlet system for ecotec's. The link is http://holmart.com.au/online/prod5.htm
Maybe after doing those mods, you might want to put extractors and exhaust, to get better flow. If the cars complete n/a, exhaust and extractors will give little HP gain.
check out raptor s/c thread, as they did numerous mods before the s/c and showed the gains etc.
dont get extractors, but for $500 i think a high flow cat and straight flow are generally good to keep a nice flow, with extractors only needed when going s/c and it doubles the price of the exhaust system. (single pipe only, twin is def a waste of time, and my single sounds as good as a v6 gets, but i wasted cash on extractors before doing research).
Dont feel bad man, most people make that mistake. Next big mistake a lot of people make is thinking that an exhaust can make a big differance on it's on, this is only the case if the car is restricted in "exhaling" to begin with, and imho, the vy is'nt really that restricted. Well, not the ecotec anyhoo.![]()
If your still looking for ideas, have a quick look at my vehicle thread and see if that helps.
When you see a car that's BLOWN it's refering to the budget.
