auto to manual conversion - 6 speed?

ok, i know the topic of a auto to manual conversion has been covered plenty of times before but i have searched high and low and can not find much info on the vy. i do not know much about gearboxes etc so excuse me if my questions seem stupid..

i want to convert my vy s1 acclaim from auto to manual.
i specifically want to know:

1. the vy v6's had a 5sp box, can i convert mine to manual using a 6sp box from a v8? or any other 6sp box for that matter?

2. whats the go with the ecu? can the auto one be modified to think its a manual? anyone done it on a vy?

i know converting to a manual is a bit costly and troublesome. ive done it before on an nl fairlane i used to own so i sort of know what im in for. selling the car and buying a manual isnt an option as ive done too much work to this car already!

if anyone can help me or steer me in the right direction it would be great

surely someone has to know... can i put the 6sp gearbox from a genIII onto my ecotec?
