The wife reports that she noticed a cloud of white some from the exhaust of the Commodore. The ride is a 2004 VY S Pac Supercharged and has done about 21,000ks. This happened at the McDonalds drive thru.
What could be wrong.
Thanks all.![]()
How cold was it, white smoke is usually condensation
If it disappeared pretty quickly it would be condensation or steam.
i dont reckon you got anything to worry about, as long as its not doin it all the time
youve got great mileage on that mate! 21thou in 2-3 yrs?!
Thank you all for your response. Got low mileage becuase got another ride which we use regularly. Commodre is used occasionally.
Ok Update time:
It's about 30 degrees, i can still see white condensation in the air, but cannot see white smoke from the exhaust. If i put a piece of cloth against the exhaust, it gets warm and damp then the dampness dissapears fast. if i press the accelerator, water seeps out of the exhaust.
Have burnt rubber recently and Check engine warning came on!
Should i be worried?
What should i do?
Cheers
The dampness and water are normal, it proves your cat is working. The engine check light came on because the transmission would have chucked a spaz cos you weren't moving. The light should be off now? It just logged an error in the ECU, I think you can still check codes on a VY the same as VT-VX.
I reckon it's condensation cos you drive the car so little. N.B.D.![]()
