Hey
Ive recently purchased a VY S pac with 5 speed manual, and one of my mates has a AU falcon, and i was just wondering does anyone know how it will go agiast the AU Falcon ?
The AU is a S, 5 speed manual 4L.
Both are stock
? This one is a wierd first post!
For on paper ideas, check out www.redbook.com for some stats on the cars. Best bet would be to take them down to a local drag track and AVE A GO!!!
P.S, you better win!!!
From what I've heard the AU was the worst for mechanical errors out of all the falcon series apart from the EB. But I agree, strange thread.![]()

Tomorrow doesn't look good either.
God must love stupid people, He made so many.
both being manual and relatively compareable, id say it would come down to the driver.
what about a VY S pac manual VS a BA XR6 Manual NA. one of my mates has one. we pick at eachothers car ay, holden and ford rivalry. lol
i rekon the AU would have you, the 4.0L 5 speed falcons absoulutely fly. But if it were auto vs auto the VY would win off the line for sure, the au might have you once it gets it's legs.
AU's are pretty slow from my experience but no way to know for sure unless you see for yourself!
Oh ok thanks anyways, he just keeps on saying **** that his AU hasnt lost against a commodore yet, so yeah just wanted to know how i would go.
1995 Manual HSV Clubsport
Wade Cam :: 9.2:1 CR :: Pacemaker headers :: Twin 2.5" Exhaust :: VT Brakes
1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD
Mate it really dosen't matter, You have a nice VY and he has to drive one of them ugly AU things so you win anyways but as 03vyPplater said, it would come down to the driver there'd be bugger all in it i reckon.

id rather drive some ****box 4 cyl than an AU..
and ya cant even wash an engine bay properly in an au without making it not start again.. dodgey coils in the AU and previous models.. anyways.. vy should win.
Yeah ya got that right, there ugly alright.
By the way can anyone recommended some mods for my car i dont realy want to get a supercharger or turbo yet becasue ive just got me P plates about a month ago and i dont really want to get to much attention to my self yet (cops etc), im getting a 2.5inch sports exaust in a couple of weeks hopefully, and yeah any other mods, that anyone can recommends ?

AU falcons are poo...and as far as tickford goes, they are an improvment on the stock motor but i pulled away from an ED XR6 5 speed in my Auto V6 VN Calais and there were 3 adults in my VN. Fords may have healthy power figures but they dont seem to get it to the ground all that well.
i own a vy and drive an au for work. like azzss said, be thankful you get to drive around in a vy, they're a great car! the au is an absolute bucket of s***... not only does it look ugly but it feels cheap and nasty and with the standard suspension it drives like a marshmellow on wheels.
as for mods, after you do the standard stuff like exhaust and cold air intake etc, go for a set of high ratio roller rockers. FIT do a set of 1.97 rockers for about $900 which should be good for 20rwkw. not only will that provide hours of fun but should see you pulling away from that au with no worries![]()

Oh ok thanks for the ideas
oh narr its a series 1
hey boris whats the alternative for us with the series II?
apparently theres some casting overhang in the vy series 2 which causes a problem with the 1.97 rockers. Its only on some cars though.
if you're looking at the 1.97 rockers from FIT, they also sell a set of 5/16" pushrods for $120 which will allow enough clearance for the rockers to be used on any ecotec.
matt.
Better alternative imho is the split ratio rockers from yella terra. Split ratio rockers balance out the inlet/exhaust better, which allows your top end to breath even better than just high ratio rockers, plus yella terra's rockers are roller tipped, not friction plate, and are also lighter aluminium.
Besides that, im not really fond of the idea of reco'ed rockers in my car, which is what fits rockers basically are.
Factory super 6 are slower than the manual na v6. Already tested this with a mateSo it should get up on the AU. As for the BF, you would probably loose but wouldn't be by much if you can get a good start. The 4L 6 makes alot more torque that the ecotec, something like an extra 80nm.
Figures are like this BF Kerb weight - 1707kg @ 190kw @ 383nm, VY Kerb weight - 1549kg @ 152kw @ 305nm, AU Kerb wieght - 1480kg @ 164kw @ 366nm.
This is just what it looks like on paper though. Driver ability will determine who's faster. Not that it matters, you got a holden so your already in front.
When you see a car that's BLOWN it's refering to the budget.
I can tell you that my VY when it was stock, Beat my Bro's AU Ute by miles!!
Just yeserday, I ran a BA XR6 Manual Ute.
I smashed it from take off all the way to the limiter in 3rd 210kmh!!
although now I have 132rwkw.
