Has anyone fitted a strut tower brace from a VY Series 2 or a VZ to a VY Series 1.
Can it be done, and if so, is it hard to do?
I have found one that I like from a GTO site in the US and all they can tell me is the "think" it should fit. http://www.bmrfabrication.com/stb/GTO.jpg
Does anyone know if there are similar strut tower braces made over here?
I seem to remember seeing them for sale on ebay brand new, they were for the SS but it said that they just needed drilling to suit the S.Sorry I haven't got the link but had an 'event' with Mozilla and lost all my bookmarks(backup regularly now tho, tough lesson, years of bookmarks goooone).Try a search and see what you come up with.
Tell you what I'll take some of the hard work out of it for you...http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Commodore-VT-...QQcmdZViewItem

You can pick them up for the VY with the nuts for starting at I think $60.00 and they say there gen Holden
Windsurfing.....
This is what you call a real sports wagon, BOUY!!!
I wouldn't bother getting one from the U.S. They are readily available in Australia. Whiltelins has adjustable ones. And yes you can fit them. SS's and Clubbies have them standard from the factory.
Thanks VYClubby,
All the ones I see advertised look very flimsy. I was chasing something a bit stronger than the ones shown on E-bay. Is the factory one a fixed length like the one in the photo link or is it a adjustable one?
Also I liked the look of the "U.S." one. Do you have any photos of the factory one?
Sorry, should be a thanks to all responses.
Leno.
Clink on my link under this post. You will see the factory brace on my clubby. I think they are around $50?
Thanks VYClubby, That looks a bit stronger than the ones I have seen on Ebay. I will check with Holden for a price.
Leno,
Once you get the strut brace fitted, please let us know if there is any noticeable difference in handling / ride. Thanks.![]()
Hope to get one in the next month or so davey g-force, and I will be sure to post a reply as to how it changes the feel of the car.
VYClubby, I dropped in to my local Holden dealer today and they could not find the strut brace on their computer system. Does your strut brace have any numbers stamped in to it so I might be able to give them some more info.
Thanks.
Leno.
No there's no stamp. I'm surprised they couldn't find it as it is a pretty common part. All SS's have them as well. Maybe try another dealership.
I would just put on a whiteline item. They are worth the extra dollars and add some bling to the engine bay. Not hard to fit, factory ones require 2 holes drilled, after market require 3 to 4 depending on brand.
When you see a car that's BLOWN it's refering to the budget.
