    Default help please with headunit

hi everyone, i just put a pioneer 6750mp headunit into my vy ss and its great, sounds good, but i have a few problems, i used all the correct adaptor blocks for the wirring and aerial, etc, but my electric aerial doesn't go up when the radio is on and the headunit restets itself every time i take the key out of the ignition and open the drivers door when i get out of the car, like the factory one cuts the power but doesn't reset itself, but the pioneer one does, has anyone experienced this problem and what did they do, or know of someone wth the same problem, also whats the best adaptor box to get to have the steering wheel controls work?

    cheers, been.

Sounds like you don't have the accessories cable wired correctly. The accesories cable is wired to constant 12v and is used to keep power going to the headunit even when the car is switched off. This is to keep memory settings and radio stations.

Also sounds like the wiring to the aerial maybe wrong too.

I Just put a Pioneer CD player in last week using an AERPRO adapter so that I didn't need to cut any of my standard wiring.
The contestant 12V and Accessories "ARE" the wrong way round, after I swapped these around the memory saved to my deck. idiots lol ;-)

Also the eclectic aerial needs to be wired to the remote (Blue) wire from your CD palyer to the Blue cable on the AERPRO adapter. You should see on the adapter (AERPRO) has one wire that is jumped across two pins, this is the cable which controls the electric aerial.

Basically the aerial works by a 12V switch, when 12V is applied to the circuit the aerial goes up and stays up until the 12V supply is lost then the aerial goes down. If all else fails you could attempt wiring the aerial to the accessories wire on the CD Player but this means that the aerial will go up any time you turn accessories on (even if the CD player is off), but I have not tried this before and would be a pain in the ass having the aerial up when ever the car is running. Hope this helps...

yeh, when i wire it up the aerial, will it go down when i switch from radio to cd? as i wired it to the remote on the adaptor plug (blue wire) then went to the factory aerial wire, it worked but when i went to cd it stayed up, if this doesn't work i'll wire it to an on/off misile switch thats on my dash from when it was a cop car, iv got wires already spliced with female/male connectors ready to use if need be, i'll try this and c what happens, thank u for all ur help so far.

thats because stupid pioneer dosnt have a separate wire for the antenna, its combined in the signal output which you use to switch on an amp, ie head unit on, starts up with radio, you switch to cd, antenna stays up, turn headunit off, antenna goes down. get my gist

yeh, thanks andyman, i'll do what i was going to do and run the wire for the aerial via the on/off missile switch on the dash and use that to turn it off when i don't want it up, as its directly in front of the indicator stalk on the dash see how i go with that, just got to get some time now to do it.
