I have a 2004 v6 vy wagon which seems to have developed a computer fault. It has begun beeping when the doors are locked using the lock button on the key. I have reset the door lock indication to 'indicators' in customisation mode several times but it still keeps chirping. Have also 'restored to factory settings' at the beginning of the options but this had no effect either.
This started out as an intermittent fault about a month ago but now it seems to be permanent.
Is there an easy fix for this or should I just sell it?
check that all your doors are locking properly. might not be related, but horn on my VS chirps when one of the door locks gets stuck every once in a while.
Maybe not locking properly? my sister car (VY) is doing the exact same thing, they got an extended warranty and its being covered. Common fault perhaps?
if it beeps 5 times it indicates one of the locks didnt work....as described in the owners book.
yea it is a common failure.

It happened to mine also. Apparently the lock jams in the cold weather. Mine now plays up every winter, without fail. Holden replaced the solenoid the first time it happened, but now it has continued it seems that its just a design fault...
Thanks for the advice. I checked each door after trying to lock them and sure enough, the passenger door was still unlocked. I'm guessing that the kids might have lifted the handle as I pressed the unlock button a second time - I have it set up for a two stage unlock. Could this have caused the problem??
I pulled the door trim off tonight in fading light and decided that disconnecting all those control arms to remove the mechanism might be best left for the weekend.
Any advice about how to fix/replace the locking mechanism would be appreciated.
I replaced the passenger one on my ute in April.Relatively easy job. Cost $95 for door actuator from Holden and about 45 mins time.
yeah it is a very comon problem with vy and vz if you replace the whole lock and acuator you dont have any problems
