Default steering wheel volume control issues

I have a problem with the wheel mounted volume control. When i press 'down' the volume will go up. it started doing it after i entered 'police mode' for the digital speedo.
Switching everything off and back on didnt fix the problem either.

any idea how to fix this?

    Cheers!

This is a very common problem with VY's. Holden were fixing them under warranty, although your warranty has probably run out yeah?

You can either take it to Holden to get fixed for about $120 (they replace the buttons) or someone here has bought the parts and done it themselves.

I found that contact cleaner sprayed into the gaps in the buttons worked a treat - mine has been good for months now.
Or someone here took the buttons apart and cleaned them?

I have replaced mine. It was doing the same as yours. Easy job to do. If Holden charge $120 supplied and fitted, I would get them to do it. The buttons cost me $80 trade or retail they wanted $100, so $20 or so to install is the way to go.

Mine did it for the first time on Wednesday (two days ago). I intended to have a look at it on the weekend - after checking here for help ;-). Anyway, yesterday morning all was well again. I've been using the volume controls a bit more than usual just to check them out, so hopefully any oxidation will be rubbed off... If not, contact cleaner will be the next step.

    Thanks for the tips guys!
    Cheers,
    Paul.

    I agree with Chris,

When the car had been sitting in the sun and is as hot as hell they don't work. Cool the car off and they seem to come back to life.

i realize the exact same thing..
however i took it to holden and after 3 visit and unsuccessfully attempt[ big story, don't wana know ], they replace a wiring apparently coming form computer to the steering wheel. and it did fix the problem.
BUt they broke my volume buttons on the steering wheel, and they totally denied it..
