    Default S2 VY O2 Sensors

My V6 S2 VY has done 61000+kms and i would like to check the o2 sensors to see what sort of condition they are in.
Can anyone advise me where they are located and how to remove them. Any pics would be helpful thanks.

hi, they are on the extractors just before the cat. open the bonnet and follow the headers down towards the cat, you cant miss them, they are a big sensor that plugs into the headers. since this is a V6 you have 2

On VY just the one pair only, should be in perfect order at 61 000km. Is the fuel economy not good or just having a look to be sure they are good?

You won't be able to see if they are any good or not. The sensor part is inside the metal fluted section. There is no visible sign that they are buggered, they are not like a spark plug. Colour may tell you how the engine is running but not if the sensors are working. You can test them if you have a multi meter.

You need to take the car for a hard drive to get them hot, and keeping the revs up around 2000 rpm, test the signal wire, the voltage should be fluctuating rapidly from around 0v to 1v. Clamping off the fuel return line slightly raises fuel pressure and makes the engine run rich, this should send the volts up around 0.8v. unplugging an injector will make it run lean and the voltage should drop to about 0.2v. The O2 sensor will be a 4 wire , two of those are earth, one is the heater wire and the other is the signal. The heater wire will have a constant voltage. I think the signal wire could be pink on the VY.
