Default help with my VY super6 calais

    Hi guys,

I have quite a few questions so bare with me

firstly I have read on this forum that some of you guys have noticed the smell of burning/hot rubber in your cars after it has been runnung for awhile. I have noticed this to and has wondering what the cause is and what can be done to fix it?

i also what to replace my front and rear shocks, any paricular brand that can be reccomended would be great.

i need new pads and disks any paricular brand that can be reccomended would be great.

and finally why does my car use so much fuel (18-20l/100km) i mainly do city driving and dont drive it to hard and i ude 98 octane fuel.

any help with these issues would be great'

I found my VT super 6 was leaking oil from the rocker cover gaskets. A cheap fix replace the gaskets with new $16 each. And may be a plastic bag etc on the exhaust pipe.
Fuel consumption is the same for me around town 18/19 - yep it hurts especially with premium.
Shocks - Munroe gas are OK and cheap and will feel a lot better some people swaer by KYBs also cheaper - unless you want ultra performance then expect to pay heaps.
Brakes - I found Bendix OK - there are several options such as General CT but Ultimates are better but dusty.

    Whew! think that's all.

I have a Super6. With your Fuel Economy, dont take the Trip computer readings as correct.
My car was showing the same around 17-19Lt/100.
I Actually Filled my car with 68Lt from the pump reading but the trip computer said I had used 79Lt. This is impossible because its only a 75Lt Tank. So I assumed the Trip Computers Fuel Used was calibrated wrong.
You can adjust the Calibration in the dash by Entering the Options Menu when you first turn the ignition on.

But now my car is showing around 14Lt/100 and is definatly correct as the fuel used vs the Pump Filled is very much equal.
** If you adjust the Fuel Used setting, make it show a bit more than the Actual Pump Filled Used. (ie if you pump in 68Lt, the Fuel Used on the Trip computer should be around 70Lt). SO YOU DONT RUN OUT OF FUEL!!!
