Weird idling... help

After I drive my 02 VY for a bit, the engine gets all funny at the lights, when the car is idling. Its an auto, so that could be an issue, but instead of idling at about 500-600 revs, it does 1000+ sometimes, when the car is stationary, and you can hear the engine from the outside.

Furthermore, the scary part is when I finally park the car after its been doing this at the lights, it goes up to 2500+ revs and thats insane when the car is in park and my foot is off the accelerator. If I turn the car off and back on again, its all good and I'm back to idling at 500-600 revs in park, but a few days later, or even later that day, the whole problem starts again.

I don't know whats goin on, but I had a similar issue in my old VS, but I got rid of it. Now its happening in my VY and I'm worried I may be cursed with a weird idling issue in V6 cars... please help

Before you do anything else check all your intake hoses. An airleak on the intake can cause all sorts of issues.

Cheak the iac motor on the throttle boby is clean and moves freely.

My money is on the TPS....

If the TPS has failed the engine light will come on

If it fails yes.... its its faulty... possibly not....

I had a idle issue, no engine light and it was the TPS...
