Default vz ss flutes and monaro bonnet scoops

hey everyone, just interested to find out if the vz ss gaurds with the flutes(side vents) will bolt straight on to a vy in place of the vy front gaurds and how much would this cost from holden to buy and get painted white? or does anyone do them out there, also how much would it cost to get the monaro bonnet scoops/vents put into a vy bonnet and painted white?

ur lookin at about 600 for the guards and vents new from holden.
as for the bonnet depnds wat you want to do.
option 1 is to buy a fibreglass vy bonnet with the scoops already moulded on to it. which will cost between 600 to 1000 depending where you get it from.
option 2 is wat im doin at the moment, which is moulding a set of fibreglass scoops onto my original bonnet. which the scoops cost $250 plus getting someone to mould them onto the stock bonnet

i went for the scoops moulded on the orignal bonnet cause a complete fibreglass bonnet will never fit as good as the original. and ive seen a few fibre glass bonnets break the mounts and smash the windscreen at freeway speeds.

as for paint i reckon your lookin at roughly 1000ish

Both have upsides and downsides.. It really depends on the quality... Often now a top quality fibreglass bonnet will fit perfect and if it is a good quality bonnet the mounts will not break. Unfortunately most people opt for the cheapest option and if they're dumb enough even the ebay option. This is why there are so many fibreglass bonnets around that have a poor fit.

If you choose to have the scoops moulded to your original bonnet get somebody who is again good quality to do the work as it will often look shocking if not done perfect.

Also, metal flexes more than fibreglass so the chances are you'll see cracks appearing in your paint so be prepared to be painting your bonnet every 12 months, or every 3 if they don't know what they're doing when they mould the scoops on

The only perfect option is a complete steel bonnet, but they're rather expensive as most metal fabrication is... Looking at around $2000.

your right about the bonnet flexing. i first noticed this in my ricer days with my lancer. but the vz bonnet is a hell of alot stronger then i was expecting. there is barely no flex and i spose the two gas struts help too(the lancer had one arm holdin up one side of the bonnet. so you noticed big flex when it was up)

im also doing something a little bit different with the guards which im hoping will turn out well

yeh i'll ask around, i have a mate who's dad is a very reputable custom spray painter and has one simmilar bonnet modifications, like the hdt scoops onto bonnets, seen a couple of them put on other vehicles, like chevy pickups and he did a realy gwd job, might ring up durring the week and get a quote of them. yeh i got quoted $250 to get my bonnet painted from a panel shop we used at my old work, might talk to them aswell and compare the prices, i know they both do fantastic work, thanks for your help and info.
