probably just condensation.
Just purchased a VY wagon 85,000km. When we start it up it blows lots of white smoke. We took it back and they replaced the Value Stem Seals. We have since empted the tank of fuel and put new fuel in it. It is still blowing smoke ONLY when you first start it. Even when it is not cold???
Please Help

probably just condensation.
We got rep back, yaaay!
are you familiar with the difference between Smoke and Steam?
If so, smell it.. If its hard to breath in, oily smell, then its Oil from somewhere like Valve stem seals, If its steam, its condensation, or a Leaky head gasket(water into cylinder)"only if you are topping up the water on a regular basis because its low... But if it has a Fuel kind of smell, then possibly a leaking injector, putting fuel into the cylinder between the time you turn the key from ignition to start........
If I'm not pulling Toyota's out of the Bush, I'm pulling 12's in the Sig :-)
What ever it is it cant be good. White smoke would point toward coolant getting into the cylinder some how. Blown head gasket of cracked head/block.
Can you smell coolant at all? Is thew oil cap milky on the inside?

Did you even test drive the car before you bought it. Was it blowing smoke before you even sealed the deal??
You just bought a problematic car.
If you got it from a dealer - send it back. seriously you should not have to go through this as a new owner thats just ridiculous.
White smoke usually indicates coolant entering the combustion chamber. you probable have a blown head gasket.
I am scared now. Head gasket?? It is deffentley not condensation. It does not smell like oil or coolant. It only does it when you first start it up - HOT or COLD and not every time???
HELP
Take it back and ask for your money back ASAP. its not worth the risk. if this is only happening after a few days who knows what else is just around the corner to fail mechanicly.
It doesn't have to smell like coolant, if its steam usually only thing I can think of is coolant.
Or maybe you have heavy condensation in your exhaust or muffler, Id get it check anyway just to make sure. Normally the condensation will go away after a drive.
I was confused now I'm just not so sure!!
RIP Peter (perfect) Brock....
I do not think we can get our money back?? It’s just really disappointing. It’s the first time I have spent more the $500 on a car and now we have a driveway full of smoke??
The coolant is fine the oil is fine. Back to the dealers, and try for the tried time for them to fix it. May be I should of brought a FORD.
Did you had it checked by a mechanic before you even touch your money??
Did you even take it for a test drive?? Was it a impulse buy??
I understand that it can be very tempting to buy it especially if you really like the car.
When it comes to used car whether it 15 years old or 2 years old you still need to be very careful.
I'd say go back and talk to the dealer. Don't waste your money fixing it.
its more than likely worn out intake manifold gaskets... pretty common with V6's and is the most common cause for loss of coolant...think of it this way. when the car is hot the coolant is pressurised, when the motor is not operating coolant is forced out of the cooling system, past the worn gaskets and into the cylinders so when the motor is started again when cold it is mixing with the air/fuel mixture and making the white smoke until the coolant is cleared from the cylinders.
We took it for a test drive and was checked by a mechanic. I am very thankful for all your comments. The car is under warranty, but it is just a hassle having to keep taking it back and the same problem still occurs.
Cool Ute.
It had a machincal check. We are just unlucky that the problem has started after we brought it. I am taking it to the RAA for a full inspection. I will let you all know the result.
not no worry it only cost $ 600 to get it fixed. at holden other mech's cheaper.. 1 day job
