Centre console pocket Q? Fitting retractable LCD there possible?

Hi there,

I have a quick question on the VY centre console pocket just below the radio.

I want to put in a motorised LCD touch screen. (For a Carputer)
But I do not want to replace the factory radio for a few reasons.
Mainly I dont want to lose the instrument panel integration, and I also only last weekend got phreddy to do the AUX in mod to it.

Anyway I was thinking about the pocket just below the radio.

If I read correct that is where the optional GPS navigation system would go if fitted.
Looking at a picture I found the GPS unit sppears to be approx DIN size. Though it is difficult to tell from just a picture.

I was wondering if anyone knew I could fit a standard DIN unit where the pocket just below the radio is. (The LCD screen I am looking at is in a standard single DIN size, with motorised retraction)

I would be happy to modify the dash a bit if needed.
But dont want to have to go overboard.

So I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if there is room to do what I am thinking before I pull the dash apart to investigate myself

Hi thanks muchly for the reply.

I saw both those threads in my searching.

But the first one seems to be talking about replacing the Blaupunkt radio and putting an LCD in its place. That I do not wish to do.
Though you linked directly to Benzor's post, but the pics he has linked to do not show up so I am not sure if it is what I want to do or what is talked about in the thread.
(Though I might just send Benzor a PM to ask if I can get a copy of the pics.)


The second thread the OP is talking about doing the exact same thing as I want to do.
But he doesnt mention he has done it. Just planning to do so.
