Default Possible solution to high fuel consumption on some V6 VY's

Hey guys i had an idler pulley replaced on my VY under warrany some months ago and ever since my fuel consumption jumped an average of 2-3 liters per 100 kms no matter how i drove the car.

I finally took my car back to holden and got the pulley replaced again being as it had become noisy and all of a sudden my fuel consumption has dropped back to what it was when i 1st bought the car back in march.

I am now averaging arround 11L/100km with an average speed of 48+kmh where is would normally be getting anything from 13.2 to 14.5L/100km .

So for all you out there with a thursty VY V6 check your pulleys as you may find them to be shot.

Shot pulleys load up the engine like an A/C compressor. Thats what (I believe) causes high fuel consumption.

The thing that really anoys me was that the Holden dealership installed a faulty pulley under warranty and would not change it when i complained about higher fuel consumption when the car was still under warranty so i have drivven arround for the last 6 months and 12000+kms with my car using alot more fuel than it should have been.

I am in the process of trying to get my VY to the dealership (under warranty)as it is making a noise from what appears to be one of the pullys!

I am currently getting about 10l per 100km and 7-8l on a trip.
