if only there were more kits for holdens the only few i have seen are the c2r kit and the fortune kit, and they are fot vt-vx, havnt seen anything for the vy. it makes it hard no one is trying to make a mck up, they just want there car to look better body wise and this is one of the only options.

You guys need to let up. So what if others want to have cars that look like yours but aren't the real deal? Guys have been building "fakes" since the first GT Falcons and GTS Monaros. Some guys actually have the ability to create cars which are perfect replicas in every way except the precious little badge on the glovebox that says the car is "Build No. XXX".
You might have the brass to buy the real deal, lots of guys (and girls) dont, but can have something that looks just as good. What the hell's wrong with that? I think the term "bastardising" is a bit stiff. I admit that some efforts are so bad they deserve a quick trip to the crusher, but there are some really nice units running around that most young people would be proud to call their own.
I don't own an HSV (and have absolutely no wish to - some genuine HSV body mods SUCK, big time! eg VR GTS - bright yellow, black 3 spokers, 3 foot high push-bar on the boot- YUK!!!) You can drive past me in my ordinary Berlina and I will have be totally unenvious of you. You have your tastes and I (and others) have ours. Let people be what they want and good luck to you both for being able to indulge as you can.

here here..
People on their P's cant own 8's but they can make other people think that they do.. who gives a **** if they are posing as a V8 driver.. i would have more respect for someone who has a body kit than for somebody who has a loud, doof doof, stereo.. yet the guy with the body kit is the poser.

ok well.. to sum up what i think, i would rather look at a clubby kit or a senator kit or whatever than a stock exec kit. regardless of sound, power what ever.. visually i would rather look at a V8 kit.

Let him do what he wants, its his car and with a good job done to it, there is nothing to laugh at.
Plus its a 8 not a six which make it even better than those other 6's out there with full blown hsv bodykits.
Mack,
I stand corrected as to the correct model and designation, but I still think it was the fugliest HSV ever created. And I'll bet that HSV never even thinks of doing anything as tasteless again!

We're getting right off track with this post, which isn't what I intended, but I believe the VN to VS series Commodores didn't lend themselves well to body mods, certainly not in the same way that the VT to VZ series did. The GTS-R might be considered a classic, I don't know, but it certainly looked unlike any HSV product before or since. It has those "love them or hate them" looks. Some go for the one direction, I go for the other. Having said that, I respect your views and your preferences. We just differ, that's all.
Having said that, let's get thread back on track.

man im sick of these geezers putting people down for slapping bodykits onto cars, ITS A BODY KIT, get over it!?!?! why do you get so worked up over it? are you angry that you had to blow megabux on a mode of transport that somebody else can have VERY SIMILAR for a probably 10 times less money than you spent.
You blokes keep blowing your hot air with put downs, lol at the end of the day it comes down to being investment smart, blowing anything more than 15 grand on a HOLDEN is a POOR investment reason being = they do not hold value!
Meh, lol i hope this guy pulls off a senator mockup, because last time i checked a senator does not sound like a blown v8 those things are like the blue whales of the sedan world, when i think senator i dont think roarrring v8, i think ... comfy buffalo lolll so so much for ur "it doesnt sound like a v8 theory"
lolll wow .. how old are you guys, and u still "laugh at peoples cars" congratulations to you!you've gone through life, but life hasnt gone through you

There there mate, it's ok. One day you might understand.
It sounds to me like YOU'RE the one getting worked up lol.
Very similar hey?I can think of one small difference - a 6 cylinder as opposed to a V8!!!
Oh, and not everyone buys a car as an investment. In fact, unless it's a rare collectable, a car is never gonna be an investment...
lolll please dont patrionaise me mate, yeah maybe one day i will understand ... why people waste money on brand new holdens when a year later their value drops 10K, 2 years it drops 15, 3 years it drops 20.
Take my car for an example. I drive nothing flash, its a standard VY II Acclaim 2004 model. On the original registration papers it says that the bloke payed something like $34 thousand for it.I picked it up off him 3 years and 100,000kms later for $12,800. Meh i couldnt care less, because in about a month or so my Acclaim will be looking beautiful! Even if i had the money to buy an SS or a Senator for that kind of cash you can buy something alot faster, alot lighter and alot better looking.
But ey, you say watever u wana say to make urself feel better buddy. You must have the cash so keep burning it as you please, doesnt make a difference in my life haha just shows that not everybody wisens up with age.

lol, thanks for the laugh Neb. I will keep paying good money for good cars. Its great when you can write off vehicles for tax purposes. Obviously something you are not familiar with. So why you mosy along in grandmas old car, i will keep driving my comfortable, good stopping, well finished nicely tuned LS1 or LS2 HSV.
Just make sure you stay out of my way doing 85 in the 100 zones please.

I too get good tax breaks on my vehicles.
Your comment "I couldn't care less" sums it up. Cars mean different things to different people. Cars are important to me, so I like to drive something new (or newish) and a bit better and quicker than a base model, especially when I can get tax benefits and keep upgrading every 5 years.
It's just a shame to see dodgy mock-ups that give the real deal a bad rep. But you do what you like - I'm upgrading next year anyway!
As for your several comments relating to our wisdom - you don't know me mate so don't go making personal attacks on people you don't know. Suffice to say, I'd gladly challenge you to a test of wit any day.![]()
