Gear selection on cluster

I'm asking this for a mate. He has a VY acclaim and wants to know if he can get the gear selecteion on the cluster to stay in big letters instead of shrinking after a little while. I don't know much about VY or VZ commodores and he isn't the clueiest when it comes to electronics so any advice would be great.

As far as I have heard, it cannot be done.

An alternative way could be done is to use a VY series-2 cluster (As far as I know the cluster should work on a VZ). They have the same size gear indicator as the VZ, but will always show all the gear ranges (PRND321) with a bracket [] around the current selection unlike the VZ that will only show the current selection.
