Default vy senator/hsv binacle and gauges?

just wondering if anyone has fitted the vy senator/hsv binacle to there commodore/berlina/calais/s or ss, and if so how did you do it and was it relativly easy? also how much did it cost and what parts did you need?

thanks in advance, looking at it for my ss, was told its bolt in, plug to plugs already there, but looked behind the dash trim and there was just air vents, no extra wires. any advice and help greatly appreciated.

Hey i'm interested in this too.
I've also noticed that there are 2 types of gauges, ones for cars with climate control and ones for cars without climate control, so be careful which one you buy.

The HSV gauges are about $600 or so lol. Very expensive. best off buying 2 LS1 scan gauges. Worked a treat for me and its a fairly easy swap over.

what are the 2 ls1 scan gauges?
i was thinking of maybe getting autometer gauges instead and a binnacle to fit or the hsv binacle and autometer gauges to fit, but would realy like to get the hsv ones to go with the dash as its a red dash and green back lit as ud beaware. but don't mind useing autometer instead, though would like to keep the factory type look/feel on the inside. but the auto meter sounds like the cheaper and easier way to go at the moment. and if i had a s/c later on to the gen3, id have to go auto meter for the boost gauge as i don't think holden/hsv would have one of these.

    any thoughts?
    its non climate control.

one of my dads mates put the gauges like in the bagt falcons into his ba xr8 ute in the same spot, looked awesome, but he used a different brand of gauges that have a blue background and orange needle to go with the dash, as they were cheaper and looked heaps better, plus ford wouldn't sell him the gt ones at the time.

i got the binnacle from capa, about $200 genuine hsv.i put autometer gauges in mine.a word of warning, the lighting in them is crap.mine is a vy berlina series 1 so had no harness.got my local auto electrician to wire it all up.$180.you will need an adaptor for the sender unit to mount to the oil pump, either genuine hsv or the existing one can be drilled & tapped.you can also attach to a t piece at the back of the block i believe but it is a bit of a tight squeeze i'm told.

Here's the main website for aeroforce it says to email them first if ordering for aus cars.. Interceptor OBD2 data stream gauge and scan tool by Aeroforce Technology
from what i gather they simple plug and play items.. Also dont get a VZ binacle as I believe the wholes for the gauges are smaller then the scan gauges are..

that looks awesome warrick, i like that, yeh i might do that, so the lighting for the gauges isn't that good?

i had autometer gauges on another car, but it was a vk and they sat under the a groupa bonnet scoop, and they came with it so i just asumed it was cause they were old, but if they are dull i know what u mean, might have a look into it and see what its like i know there not as bright as the dash lights, thanks for the info and help.

Why waste your money with crappy looking gauges. Seriously, buy a scan gauge you will not regret it...does so much more than a piddly voltmeter and oil pressure or whatever you decide to put there.

just depends what you like.i'm not a fan of digital gauges & these match the dash gauges quite well.but yeah the lighting is quite dull.i had some spitfire gauges in my old vt which lit up very good, but these look classier i think.you may think there "crappy" minux but as they are in my car you dont have to like them & they suit my needs.thats why we're all individuals.

I didn't mean crappy int hat sense, I meant in comparison. When you have the option to use the gauges you used or an OBD setup, you would take the latter.

I prefer the look of warricks gauges as opposed to the digital interceptor ones, but yes fair enough the interceptor give you a lot more options...
Just one question about the interceptor gauges, will the LS1s support all the features the interceptor is capable of that is listed on this site: AeroForce Interceptor Gen II Scan Gauge - GM OBD-II Vehicles [AF1-OBDII] - $259.00$239.00 : MarylandSpeed.com- Your First Stop on the Way to Performance!

    Thanks

will the scan gauge work with a VY executive or does it have to be a HSV? and also where does it plug into? looks pretty cool being able to track all that info.

here's the email i got back, will help answer some of the questions to how it plugs in etc.

Hi Ben, thank you for your enquiry. I do not sell the pods unfortunately but may look at this down the track.Cost for a dual setup is $580 delivered to your door. This will show 4engine parameters at once (or more if you cycle a gauge) and allow you toprogram two warning lights, one for say a shift light and the other for oilpressure warning or over temp etc. They are the easiest gauge to wire up as you just plug straight into theOBDII port and away you go, no other connections as it gets power and alldata from the computer. In relation to your SC, I don't think it will read this natively as yourcomputer was not originally intended for a supercharger fitment although youcan buy an aftermarket boost sensor and wire up to one of the two analogueinputs to give you boost. I hope this information helps, feel free to ask any further questions. Regards, Robert Mellor.XTreme Auto Gauges Australia Pty Ltd

interesting, I heard you can order the binnacles for $80 same look as hsv ones but screw in. (thats dodgy), hsv ones are $200 for the binnacle, I have an autometer air/fuel ratio gauge and I'm gonna buy a vac gauge to put beside it. gauges are around $120 my air/fuel was $160.
