hi there i was just curious
I'm thinking of getitng a 2004 Series 2 Vy Spack (cosmo)
exterior is ok good condition..question here.. you know how sometimes u leave bird poo on your car and then it damages the paint and goes all cracky.. can that be removed via cut and polish if not how can it be removed.
It has 63,xxxkms on the clock..
He wanted 17 for it, i sed 16 he said ok.
We are getting RACV to look at it 2moro. I'm doing the comprehensive check done.
So if RACV says its ok im thinking of going forward with it.
What do u guys think of the car? price wise with the k's/
carsales they are going for 20 g... (km's around 70.)
What do u guys think of RACV's checking?![]()
Bird poop is paint killer. Once it stains the damage is done and it won't be coming out. A cut and polish may help it a little but it won't remove it totally.
As for the price, if it's cheaper than most of carsales private sellers then it should be ok.
Also, RACV is generally pretty good but i always check the car out well myself. If i were you i would do the following:
1. If possible drive the car when the engine is cold i.e. hasn't been warmed up. Some engine problems disappear once the car is warm so it's always good to check for problems by driving the car cold.
2. Open the boot and lift up the boot mat and check around your spare tyre. Check to see if there are all original seals i.e. if the car has been rear ended then you won't have the cream paste stuff in between panels, if that makes sense.
3. Open the bonnet and check all your fluids to make sure they look right.. power steering, brake fluid, engine oil etc. Also let the car settle for a bit if you've been driving it then open the radiator cap and check to make sure the water is clear and not rusty.
4. Whilst your under the bonnet have a look around at the paint in the engine bay and look for inconsistencies. Generally if the car has been hit from the front paint in the engine bay won't have a consistent colour (e.g. some parts shiney others not). Also look for any abnormalities like slight bends or creases in engine bay. It also good to look at the front rail (part that holds on the radiator) to make sure that looks straight and original.
5. Open each of the doors and look at the door sills and look for inconsistencies with paint. I looked at a silver subaru liberty once to buy, it looked very straight and clean, i looked through the doors and there was this tiniest bit of red paint near the door lock. It turns out the whole side of the car had been swiped and it was deemed a wright off and second hand doors off a red liberty had been used... when it was resprayed they didn't cover all the red! So look for any inconsistencies. It's also good to look down the side of the car with all doors closed and check to see if the doors look wobbly and not smooth, generally another sign of having been hit.
6. Lastly, jump under the front of the car and look for any dripping fluids.. oil etc.
7. Oh and test the air conditioner and heater =)
.. and if it's possible when you test drive the car rev out all the gears just to see if you hear any strange rattling etc when the revs pick up... but don't thrash it if he's in the car :P
mate 16 sounds fairly steep to me. ive seen a heap of 03/04 ss v8 going for around 18 . i got my s for 7 500 with 100 000 kms in perfect condition inside and out. have a look around mate im sure you can find one heaps cheaper.

where did you get yours for 7500 - auction? Around my parts SS's go for about 20-23 and S packs go for about 18k, though these have about 50,000kms on it.
i have a super 6 S and shannons said no mods its worth $12k.
and its currently insured no mods with aami for $19k
Nrma said for my s market value is a bit over 19k bog stock
got it private sale. As taztassio said, ide expect to pay about 12k for a nice s pack. yea 20 - 23k is about right for the ss although i hav seen a fair few nice ones go for less. also depends if u want manual or auto as manual in the v6 is a lot harder to find. just keep looking around, i took about a yr to find a car and ended up get it for around half of what i expected to fork out.

i brought a black 2002 vy s with 120,000km for $8,500. i thort the price was great. and she is going orsm so im very happy with wot i scored.
well i paid 13,500 for mine down from 17,200 drive away with 105k on the clock and 4 new tyres. but i know someone who paid 12 for one with 85ks so there comeing down in price, well in victoria they are
Thats waaay overpriced! I paid just under 14k for my supercharged VY S pack less than 6 months ago! Definatly keep looking, supercharged vehicle always go for more than what the V6 equivelant goes for. Mine had roughly 75000 km's on it when i bought it too from memory. Dont know what the price he wanted for it was, no wait, yes i do, it was on the carsales ad, which said $17k. Which is still cheap, but i considred expenisve back then.
EDIT: Why the **** do people bring back old topics? Just checked the original post date and it was in feb! Stop posting when the thread is dead!!! Most people only check recent posts and dont look at dates.
maybe you'd prefer they start another topic, then we go through it again?
