I have just had an imco LPG tank installed in my VY and it seems to be running perfectly.
The only issue I have is that when I flick the switch to change from petrol to LPG the engine stalls. If I change from LPG to petrol, there isn't a problem.
I was advised to change fuels with the engine running and the car stationary, but I don't rememebr being told the car would stall when changing from petrol to LPG.
Can someone please let me know if this is correct as I contacted the installer who said that it will stall and they told me that when i picked the car up......I can't recall.
Thanks.
id say just go straight gas coz duel fuel is always problems like ur having now is a big problem. i got told change fuel while the car is turned off and ur only got the necesity on and all ur lights are flashing on ur dash board it should work fine.

crazywog, why do you need lights flashing ?
Moose, mine is exactly the same and all newer systems are like this, well most, yes no drams switching to petrol except some rough idle, but petrol to gas, do it with your car turned off, and just turn it over, do not touch the accelerator or give it throttle or it will backfire. The gas reaches the cylinder in a different manner, longer, plus all the petrol needs to be out as lpg and petrol do not mix well ! For some reason the older cars didnt stall, dunno why.
Thanks VXCALAIS - I was hoping someone with some experience could help me.
ps: I don't know what he was on about with the flashing lights comment???
Do you have the old mixer setup or the newer vapour injection. With the old system you can't switch from petrol to gas by just flicking the switch. What you would need to do is get the revs up on the car and then flick the switch over and it will not stall. If it is the new vapour injection setup you should be able just change from one to the other no problem.
Mine is the mixer setup. A VN that i drive regularly, old setup switches to both regardless of idle or driving.
keep the revs up, 1500rpm or so.
My car is a little rough when I switch it from pertol to gas, but cant feel a thing when switching from gas to petrol, dad said something about "One squirts & one Farts" I guess he was saying something about the difference between Gas & Fuel.
And as for the "i got told change fuel while the car is turned off" comment... umm as far as my car goes yu cant. I always change mine when sitting with the car running, rev it slightly (as blownba said) and change it.
