    Default major problem with my commy

    was driving along the other day when all of a sudden the alternator fault come flashing up and stayed there so i know i was in a bit of strife but stupid me decided to keep driving. next time i stopped the engine and tried to restart there was nothing. up to this point i knew exactly what was wrong with my baby. had it jump started by my mate who drives a vy berlina and got her going and she was fine for about a week. then alll of a sudden both the srs and abs fault lights started flashing along with the altrnator light. then i noticed that my head unit would turn off automatically when i got on the brakes which would then send the fault lights singing again. got to the light around the corner from my house and the car just shat itself and stopped since then ive tried to jump start the car and shell run fine until you take the leads off then the engine just stops and the light go dim and then shut off. please help!!!

    New alternator/wiring, they sometimes come loose too, a symptom of that is the batt light comin on feintly in the vt\vx i dunno what sorta warning lights are in the vy, but it sounds like your stezza is turnin off due to the priority stuff in the comp to power the lights, likewise with the airbags etc, if they have low elec pwr only essential stuff gets it.

    had it happen to my vr, headlights and dash lights started going dull, then it cut out, got the alternator recoed and found some of the power cable was corroded, cut it back and soldered a new connetcor on, was ok for bout 6months, i sold it as a perfectly fine car, then the new owner rang me and it had gone again, then they relised and i relised there was a bit more corrosion in the power wire and they replaced it, they new bout the recoed alternator and that i had fixed some of the wirring.
