    Default Engine light

hey guys today on the way into work my engine warning light came on my car saying to check engine. I had a look at the enginer and cant see, smeel, feel anything that looks bad, my guess is that there is something electronically wrong with the car or something like that. How can i find out whats wrong with the engine? In my old VR I could just use a paperclip to check the errors but i am not too sure how to do it in this car. Has any one had this problem in their VY, and what was the issue in the end?
Just to add as well i did not notice ny thing different with the car at all and i had not been thrashing it or doing anything out of the ordinary

take it to holden and get it checked with a tech 2
sounds like it would be the oil pressure sensor
    or and o2 sensor

Thanx for that I took it down to holden and they told me it was 2 o2 sensor faults and was caused due to the exhaust upgrade so car is back at the exhaust shop getting fixed as i type

Just out of curiousity, can this be a big problem? I am not 100% sure how the o2 sensors work and what they could do to the car if working incorrect

O2 sensors work by converting exhaust gas temperature, which changes constantly due to mixture/ignition timing into a voltage output that gets sent to the ecu.
What often happens with an exhaust upgrade is the exhaust temps drop(depending on the size/flow of system)and the o2 sensors clog and become slow to respond.

Parameters for the o2 sensors can be adjusted with a tune and fuel maps changed accordingly.

Often you will have a miss under 3,000rpm with factory tune but after that the engine feels normal as the o2 system changes from closed loop to open loop.Or you can sometimes feel a slight hunt at freeway speeds.

    Hope that helps
