get the s/c ecotec cold air intake from holden, cost u $50-$70 at the most and a k+n panel filter $80-$120, and u will get the crowl u want and a smoother throttle response and take off, can't go wrong i bought this when i had a vr v6(different engine i know), but the intake goes on both, by just changing the airbox to suit the intake, it sits over the radiator and will sit under the bonnet properly as its made by the factory, u'll get the same power increase(even though small) as the $300-$400 dollar ss induction ones, so for the small price go the factory one of the s/c ecotec, can't go wrong and will get the induction noise u want, thats my oppinion from personal experience on my own car.

nah sorry it was a couple of years ago, and pics are on our other comp, all u need to do is ask holden for the ecotec s/c cold air intake, from a vs-vy and they'll no what your talking bout, and ask if it will bolt straight upto your airbox and they will tell you if u need the base part of the airbox, then it will be bout $70 all up, if not the it will just be bout $50 it also comes with 2 trim clips to hold it to the radiator shroud, when u do these holes when uv bolted it to the airbox properly and sat it in place, just make them a little smaller than the holes, i made one the same and one was a bit smaller and that one sat in properly, just don't puncture the top of the radiator, but u'll be fine, takes 5mins to install, easy as, top of airbox(lid) wont need to be changed at all and i think vs-vy airbox bottoms don't need to be changed, good luck with it.

isnt this part off of a VS and will only fit cars such as the VS?
the VT VX VY super 6 had a CAI which is IDENTICAL to the one on the normal v6

this is true, i have heard that by cutting away at the bottom of the air intake on the vt-vy and then making a deflector to push more air up, more air is forced into the intake from the front of the radiator area

i dont think anyone will ever get the quoted gain from a mod, everything is just too variable. The S/C v6 CAI quotes 7kw gain on a normal V6. Which is bull, max would be about 2kw.... if that

this is a photo of the vs engine bay. Have a look at the CAI and air box. compare it to yours. If the air box etc, it might go on.

Air box is differnt, the air box in VY's is the same as the one in vt's and vx's

    oh ok

it can still go on, i think

you just need to align the down pipe for the CAI and then cut a hole in the airbox

The VS intake does not fit newer models. It only fits VRs and VN and Vp's with a slight modifying with a heat gun.

Starting with the VT, Commodores have a new style air box and radiator shroud that is 100% not compatible with the VS Supercharged 6 intake. As with everything you could probably make it fit, but its not a direct bolt on.

The HSV VT Series 1 V8's (the 5.0 and 5.7 Holden motor V8's) and the XU6's have a larger CAI that works on the VT-VY Ecotec air boxes. It just requires you to cut the entry hole into your air box a larger.

Also you might want to look at this thread for a few ideas
    Cai

    VT Custom CAI???

Or you could add something like this to the passenger side of your air box

My CAI mod on my VY SS ute (series 1)

Or have a look at Yella Terra's CAI

anyone found a CAI solution for the GenIII 5.7V8 motor, on VT-VY-VZ?

Unfortunately ther V6 CAI won't fit, engine gets in the way, and I don't want to waste $400 on an SS Inductions CAI, especially when so many people say it doesn't work.

I've looked at an SS Indcutions CAI in a store, it doesn't look particularly good for air flow, as it has to snake up and over the radiator. It actually looks restrictive to me.
