    Default vy tweeters install

    Hi guys,
Need some help.. i'm installing my sound system right now (taking me ages), i need to know how do i get to the stock tweeters in my vy ss to put in new ones? Do i have to remove the whole dash? I don't think the tweeter grills remove from the top, as it looks like one mould.

    Thanks,
    Adam

Just curious is it possible to get replacement stereo facia and how much, as i scratched mine removing it =(

Good question. I'd like to know the answer to that too. The previous owner of my Berlina must have had finger nails of iron. Some of the buttons on the stereo are scratched to b*******y. It's very easy to tell which controls they used - don't think they ever used the radio, because it's all the CD controls that are scratched.

lolz... i made a few calls to holden and blaupunkt and you have to buy the whole unit, which is about $700+ RIP OFF! The only thing you can get separate apparently is the volume dial. So off to the wreckers.... or ebay.

As the big fat crow in the top of the tree once said:

    Faaaaark that!

Unless you find one that's died, I doubt anybody will sell you just the facia.

I'm particulasrly ****ed because i caused the damage. I attempted to use a coat hanger to remove the head unit, and well i was a little to aggresive and damaged the 4 little holes, plus the coat hanger pulled out by mistake and left a scratch down the side of the unit. Grrrrr!... shoulda just brought the removal tool off ebay!

the easiest way to install tweeters would be to replace your windscreen. when thats out you have all the room ya need to get your tweeters out.

There is already a thread about fitting the tweeters. You remove the end panels from the dash to get at them. Do a search under Replacing Tweeters or something similar, it wasn't all that long ago. You definitely don't have to go near the windscreen.

    Regards

Yer it wasn't too hard to do.
    - Open the drivers/passender door.
    - Remove the end panel on the dash (with the vent that connects to the door vent)
    - Once that is removed, undo 2 screws holding in the panel that has the tweeter grille.
    - Rip the panel upwards to remove it (it is clipped in).
    - Voila all done =)

They looked ok, nothing special though. Don't just upgrade tweeters though, buy front splits.
