Default Fitting a TOW BAR

Hi People,

I have a VY commodore S with a HSV kit on it. Wanting to install a towbar on it. Just wondering how much work is it to actually install it myself. Any help would be appreciated. Pictures would be great, if any.

1, remove the rear bar.
2,unbolt the bumper support (4 bolts bolted through the tow bar)
3,unbolt the towbar
4, bolt up the bumper support
5, replace the bumper

done, then you just need to fill in the hole in the bumper

fitting is obviously the same but in reverse, there is no extra supports like there was in the old days

oh ok, i seen someone install one in a VT and kinda scared me. i just removed the tongue and modified the cover so it would fit but i'll never use the bar. and as far as i can see its just dead weight.

Hey if you are fitting one and you have an HSV kit. i would recomend you get one made by Best bars auckland. it goes under the kit rather than having to make a hole in the kit to poke it though. I have one but unfortumatly it does not have a part number on it.

Just checked with Best Bars, they quoted approx. $1200NZD to do a custom one since they cary them off the shelf. Checked with holden dealer, genuine HSV one coming from underneath the bumper(which should fit) $397.47NZD for part only.

Will keep checking Trade-me.
