Hi,
My friend had a series 1 vy acclaim, he has had a few problems and wondered if any of them are common or easily fixable.
Firstly, he had just been going quite fast (not sure how fast) and applied the brakes quite hard and once the car came to a stop a warning saying to check the engine oil came up on the dash?
Secondly, after this drive, he turned off the car, and opened his door to find that the stereo would not turn off... So i took out the ENG. CONT, BCM fuse under the bonnet and I am guessing that the BCM turned off because all the interior lights etc turned off however the stereo remained on...
We then tried the stereo out of my VY2 SV8 and it asked for a code, i used the code on my card in the owners book, and it said code error and would not accept it....
He has only had this car for a few days and is quite gutted understandably and wanting to sell it if too expensive.
If there is anything anyone can do to help that would be wonderful.
Thanks
Adam Ant
Ok You Need The Vin/chassis Number Off The Car That The New Stereo Came Out Of, Call Holden And They Will Give You The Pin For It, Unless You Have The Pin For The Other Stereo Not Your Orginal One
The first problem is caused by the hot oil being thin and surging in the sump as you braked hard. The oil level sensor will have been starved of oil briefly but long enough to trip the warning light.
Check the oil level to see that it is to the correct level, and knock off the hard braking!
I haven't checked lately, but when i first bought my vy acclaim 2 years ago i noticed the radio was still on even after the car was turned off and the door was opened and closed. I went into customization mode and set the accessory control to "ignition off".
