VY Berlina Interior light flashes when door is open
This is a small but ******* annoying problem with my VY berlina.
When the interior light is on door mode, instead of the light turning on when a door is opened, it flashes on and off. I can hear a ticking noise like a relay coming from under the dash in time with the flashing.
It's a standard berlina light and I have tried swapping relays and changing settings with no luck. I was at a dealer recently and they checked it out but couldn't figure out what it was.
I've had to just switch it off but would be great if someone knew how to fix it.

I think there might be an option on the computer but I can't be sure. Check the owner's handbook to see if there are any options for the interior lights, and if so, go through the variations to see if that helps.

I went through all settings in the computer for the lights but no joy. the handbook just says to go through the settings in the computer.
I think its a fault because who would ever want the lights to flash when you open the door. the only time i could see that happening is if the alarm was activated.

This will sound dumb, but have you tried fitting another globe and looking at the contacts within the light? It might be that a poor contact, dirt or corrosion is causing some form of interference, overloading the circuit and causing a relay to cut in and out.
Just a thought, but easy to check.

Well I pulled the light fitting out, swapped the globes over, made sure everything was connecting properly and nothing was shorting out but its still flashing.
I traced the ticking sound back to the grey box under the dash above the pedals. Don't know what that is but it doesn't look cheap to replace.

Have you tried opening a different door to test the light? The switch that senses the door opeing might be busted... I remember something like this on my VS.

Thanks John. It happens when any door is opened. I checked the terminals on the drivers door for corrosion or obstruction but it was fine.

that would be the body control module, is the flashing at a consistant rate or does it vary?

Yea, it def'ly flashes at a consistent rate. I think the BCM is the source of my problem.
Are there any problems with just swapping it over? If not I might try the wreckers.

if you swap it over you will need the key heads, and a tow to holden to have the bcm and pcm linked because of the vats systems,
also if you buy 1, make sure it is the correct level ie 1 = exec, s, aclaim, ss, 2 = berlina calais 3 = stato, i believe
