Check Engine Light, In Gear, When Idle.

Like the topic says, say for example I am waiting in line at a KFC drive thru, I have the car in gear [D], foot on the brake and handbrake off, as you would if you were waiting in line in traffic, or like in a drive thru.

So anyway after about 5 good minutes of waiting in line in gear with foot on brake, the check engine light comes on, starts beeping, and the warning wont remove until I restart the car. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening, my car have no visible oil leaks and the temperature doesnt seem either too hot or too cold, what gives? Thanks in advance.
