Noisy 3.8

Hi Guys,
My engine is making some taping noise. After its warmed up and i have been driving for half an hour or so, park the car and give the engine a bit of a rev, as it comes down from the rev you can hear some taping going on and it stays there, I have tried several types of oil, edge 5w30, magnatech 10w40 and still the same, I have also put a bottle of nulon lifter-free andtune up, but its still there, It has done 166000 k's . Can some one please help me.

Either timing chain or lifters id say...

also check if its a manual its not the clutch fork hitting where it exits the bell housing.

those oils are too thin. 20w50 is perfect in most cases. Also try some nulon engine oil stuff, it coats the parts and is meant to reduce ware.

Id say its the lifters, although if it continues after the oil change and a good run, it could be that the oil pickup is blocked and not getting enough oil to the lifter.

How many kms has the engine done?
