So I have just bought myself a VY II 25th Anniversary Edition, 60,000K's, SS-lookin body kit, $14k with some negotiation. Immaculate condition, trip computer reads 10.2L/100Ks and has not been reset for 30,000ks. So whoever had this car took very good care of it, while driving as if it was a volvo. Haven't taken any of my own pics yet but here is one from the advert.
This forum has been god like in helping me buy a commodore... so a big freakin cheers to all have contributed
And yes I am very happy so far.
However I do have an issue where I cannot unlock/lock the front doors with the remote (I have 3 remotes and all do the same). Back doors lock fine, alarm arms. Does the same thing when set to double or single click on remote button. Factory reset the dash computer for good measure - but no luck. If I disarm the alarm, then use the key, the driver and 2 rear doors unlock but not the passenger. If I press down/up on the driver door lock knob the same thing happens. If I press down/up on the passenger door lock knob, it locks all but the driver door.
So it seems to me like the electric mechanism on both the front doors is shot. Am I correct here?
I have read through every page on the VY problems sticky and "door lock" problems pop-up here and there but its quite general so I am not sure if this is a common issue.
Anyway could I please get some help on how to fix this and what costs should be involved? And no I don't have a warranty as it was a wholesale auction purchase. I am in Adelaide and will no doubt end up taking this a repairer so any information would be greatly appreciated so I don't get ripped off.
Thanks very much![]()
Ahh a fellow South Aussie!!
It is most likely your front door lock actuators are faulting.
I have replaced a mere 100ish in my life for similar issues.
To be sure you must remove a door trim and test the signal power supply to the lock actuator. If you receive lock/unlock signal a new lock actuator is required.
If you looking to save some dollars I may be able to help further...
Better the Devil you know!
Cheers for the quick response mate
I should be able to rip off the inside of the door to see whats going on but when you say check for the signal, should I be getting out my multimeter or is there some other tool I need? Thats very kind of you to offer help, might take you up on that if I can't fix it myself.
........bump???

Usually the door lock assembly fails but just to be on safe side...
