Smile Fuel Surge?

Gooday from Alice Springs
Just drove back from Adelaide and the old VY Commodore Executive V6 Station Wagon played up a bit on the way. Randomly between 80 to 100km and 100 to 115km, you could feel the car 'miss or surge'. Looking at the RPM's it would go from say 2000 to 2300 rpm and back to 2000 rpm in a couple of seconds. Thought it was dirty fuel so put some injector cleaner in the fuel tank at Coober Pedy and it seemed to go OK for a while but then after around 80km up the track it started to play up again while sitting on 100 to 115km and when we got to just a slight hill it would surge worse. All this had no effect on temperature gauge and fuel economy was excellent, still got around 750km a tank. More than anything it was just bloody annoying! Any help would be very much appreciated.
Cheers
Kenoath

Sounds like transmission. Have you checked the fluid levels lately?

Default miss or surge

I had a similar problem with our VX but when you say surge I'm not sure what you mean but we definatley had small miss at the same revs as you and ended up being the plug leads. Could be one area to look at...

pull the fuel filter out, blow it out in the oposite directions and see what it looks like,

fuel systems can play funny buggers
