Driving normaly engine rev stay abt 1500 at 60KMH
but some times engine revs go on to 2300+ at 60KMH and engine makes loud noise more than normal. Specially accelerating from 0 KMH on wards it makes some strange niose, react slow in response to no of revs.
Restart the car and it gets normal. Normally happens on long drives.
its a VY exec sedan 2003. it has done more than 224,000+.
i bought it a year ago at 200,900. It is and was very well maintained and clean car inside out.
i dont know much abt cars so can any one advice what needs to be replaced after these many Ks*(differential, timing chain, exhaust etc), because it feels slow and loud and even more louder when the above mentioned problem kicks in.
sounds like a normal commodore to me, sounds like the transmission is in third gear if its sitting on 2300rom @ 60km/h, is the automatic fluid topped up?
ya fluid is all good
feels like when u drive a manual and push the clutch half way and accelerator as well, car moves but dosent move as fast as with out the clutch.
cant even show that to machenics, because it dosent happen evey day.
This sounds a bit like a problem I had with my VR. Turned out a bearing was sometimes popping out of place and stopping the gearbox from selecting first and it would stay in third. So needless to say when you took off she would rev her box off and move VERY slowly.
It was annoying because I couldnt say when it would happen so it was hard to demonstrate the problem to a mechanic, although it was more likely to do it on long trips. If I had left it, the bearing would have eventually worn through the outer casing and cooked the gearbox.
I had to take it to an automatic transmission specialist who fixed it for around $550. Certainly cheaper than a new gearbox!
You could probably have bought a tranny from the wreckers for a few hundred and had it whacked in either by yourself or the wrecker for less.
Changeover anything for Commodores is not usually very expensive.
Oh well. Dont have the car anymore and hopefully wont encounter that problem again.
